I’m a fan of themed birthday parties, and the two-year-old themed birthday parties for little girls are some of my favorites! Not too long ago I even threw a Twoodles themed birthday party for my own two-year-old. Anyways, the Two Groovy theme was a close second – which is why I wanted to share some of the best Two Groovy birthday cakes I found!
Some are pretty easy to DIY at home, but others might be a bit of a challenge and should be left to the professionals. Or rather, someone with a good bit of cake-making experience.
Now, if you’re anything like me, I definitely had more than just a cake for our birthday desserts. If that’s the case, try and keep your birthday cake a match for the theme you have for your other desserts – there are currently SO many ways to style a Two Groovy birthday, you would be surprised!
Now, let’s look at these awesome two groovy birthday cakes I found that you can use for your toddler’s party inspo:
Remember that there are some creatives working hard to make these cakes so give them credit if you end up using them for inspiration! Also, just because someone made their cake in a certain flavor doesn’t mean you can’t swap it for something you prefer!
Here are my favorite two groovy birthday cakes for your two-year-old’s birthday:
Keeping it cute, simple, and possible to mimic via DIY – but shoutout to the amazing creator of the cake Icing Designs for a Two Groovy birthday party for The Boho Diaries Nicki Odom.
This cake features the grooviest “stay trippy little hippy” wooden cake topper from Creative Gatherings 21 and is absolute adorable. This is another DIY, simply grab the topper from Etsy and follow Preppy Kitchen’s instructions on how to make a shag rug cake!
This might be my favorite on the list – mainly because I have a love for naked cakes and the two just looks so cute. But the two groovy birthday cake can be made as is, or mimicked with cupcakes! You can look at the full two groovy birthday party by @alyssamonk on Instagram!
A more minimalistic design, this pink two groovy birthday cake is a great option if you’re looking for something on the not-so bold side. This cake was made by @cupcakesbyjamie in a birthday event put together by @earthandevents.

Another great retro floral cake by JOSEFFA, I love the 3D version of the flowers and the little extra smiley face on the side. Plus, you can pretty much add any topper to match your two groovy themed birthday party!
I couldn’t skip past this one! This Boho Rainbow Two Groovy Birthday Cake from Life’s Little Celebrations is the perfect not-so-colorful boho version for your Two Groovy birthday party. Of course, you can still stick with the more classic groovy cakes if you prefer.
Although it’s another cake that’s not technically for a two groovy birthday, it definitely fits the vibe! This Groovy Flower Shag Cake by Autumn Kirkpatrick is absolutely adorable and a great alternative to the shag cake mentioned before!
I really liked this collage-style textured cake – it really brings in all the great features of the other birthday cakes on the list! This one is made by Sweet Street Bakery, she has a bunch of similar styles on her Instagram to use for inspiration too!
Another simple design, but rather than relying on flowers to carry the vibe, this baker added macaroons for the final touch! While this may be hard to recreate (unless you purchase pre-made macaroons), it’s still a beautiful retro birthday cake by Sprinkles by Ely.
Okay, so there might be some similar cakes on the list but none of them had this beautiful boho color! This daisy cake by The Frosted Penguin definitely deserved it’s spot on the list and is one of the more minimal styles you can try!
Finishing the list with another favorite style of mine – the drip cake! Songbird Bakery made this Two Groovy birthday cake and finished it off with the rainbow in the background, which I absolutely love. This is a unique cake that definitely deserves some credit to the creator!
Although the list was meant for inspiration to DIY your own cake, there is nothing wrong with hiring it out for your little one’s birthday party! And, while most bakers will do their best to fulfill your vision, remember that cakes are their bread and butter – and kind of an art, so your baker may not be comfortable copying a cake directly from the list.
Instead, they’ll take what you have for inspiration and create something even better for your little one’s birthday party! Of course, if you want the exact same cake, reach out to the original baker to see if they serve your area!
Which cake was your favorite? Do you think you could DIY it or will you be looking for a talented baker?
