Easy Valentine’s Day Gift Basket for Kids
One of the things I love to do is create something special for my littles for the holidays. While I don’t go as all-out as some mamas, I get a little extra in their gifts (but you probably do, too, if you’re here), and that’s okay. In the past years, I’ve done cute DIY baskets for my toddlers, but since they’re a little bit bigger now, I decided to swap up my add-ins.
Before you even start reading, please feel free to take this idea as inspiration and create your own! I tailored it to what my littles love and what I knew they would enjoy – even if it only ended up including four things.
Here’s the easy Valentine’s Day gift basket for kids I made this year:

How to Make an Easy Valentine’s Day Gift Basket for Kids
Just because I like to do something a little special doesn’t mean I like to make it complicated! I love keeping things simple and easy, and that’s exactly the goal of these baskets. I was also aiming to keep the price below $10-$15, but my husband picked out candy and chocolate hearts that were $13-$15 each, and I wasn’t going to kill his vibe. In the end, each basket cost a little over $20.
If you’re on a tighter budget, swap the branded chocolate hearts for something more casual or a regular bag of your favorite candies. If you’re looking for something still aligned with the Valentine’s theme, add a cute card!
But here’s what I included in my Valentine’s Gift baskets for my kids:
- Favorite candies, we did a heart box of Hershey’s and one of Skittles
- Coloring books, both of my littles love Spiderman
- Mini Activity, we found cool puzzles they could color
- Jumbo Colored Pencils
I did splurge on some tissue paper to make it more Valentine’s Day-ish and distinguish the two – red is my son’s favorite color, and pink (depending on the day) is my daughter’s.
I would also like to mention that we found most of our basket stuff at Wal-Mart! The only downside is that we shopped the weekend before Valentine’s Day, and the section was pretty cleared out, and they were already prepping for Easter.

How to Put Your Valentine’s Basket Together
As you might have noticed, I have two littles that I gifted these baskets (my youngest isn’t quite ready for one). I kept theirs the same except for swapping the candies for their favorites (chocolate and Skittles).
I used the same little baskets as I did last year, which made it easy on the budget but a little hard to organize since the items were larger. I always recommend putting your tallest in the back and moving forward by height as best as you can.
I placed my coloring book in the back and candies in the front, and then I wedged the puzzles and pencils so that they would be in view. Plus, I took tissue paper to help with the set-up and keep the goodies from falling down or in.
Here’s how they turned out:
I think they turned out perfectly! While they’re not as “pretty” or “aesthetic” as my Valentine’s baskets when they were younger, it’s really about how much enjoyment they’ll get out of them – and I can confirm that they loved the puzzles and the Spiderman coloring books.
These and the Valentine’s day crafts we love to do made it the perfect Valentine’s for my littles – they won’t stop talking about it!
