Navy Blue and Yellow Themed Newborn Photoshoot

Crafts and Activites

I’ll be honest, when I scheduled my newborn photoshoot I didn’t have any idea of what I wanted. We kinda just put it together as we went! Luckily, we created this navy blue and yellow themed look that turned out to be my absolute favorite out of all three – and I’ll be getting printed to hang in the house.

These photos were taken by So Everleigh Perfect Photography, a local photographer who took both all of Addie’s downtown maternity photos and Addie’s Snow White Inspired Newborn Photos – which you can check out here.

Prepping for Your Newborn Photos: What to Do for “Color Schemes”

Since I didn’t have a clear idea in mind for our photos, we very much looked at what she (the photographer) had on hand. The color combos were endless! Rather than settling on just one, we ended up doing a few – one of which was this beautiful navy blue and yellow combo.

Navy blue and yellow are a classic color combination and it just worked for my newborn’s tone. Her little feet ended up so cute and the yellow suited her perfectly.

If you want to recreate the photos yourself and get a similar look at home, here are a few things you’ll need:

  • Blue Newborn Wrap
  • Yellow Floral Headband
  • Wooden Dough Bowl
  • Faux Fur Rug
  • Knitted Beige Blanket

Be VERY careful if you’re DIY-ing your images and you’ve never worked with a newborn before. Newborns can be injured very easily and in ways that don’t quite make sense from our perspective, wrapping incorrectly or placing your newborn down incorrectly can lead to injuries.

This was only one part of our newborn photoshoot for my little girl! We also did two other themes during the shoot – Snowhite and a beautiful pink wrap while she laid in a wooden heart.

Although I love this navy blue and yellow-themed newborn photoshoot, I do wish I would have prepared more. But, I did appreciate how my photographer allowed me to kind of go with the flow and had multiple options brought with her to my own home.

I recommend finding an experienced photographer when you don’t have a clear vision in mind. They can help guide you or use their experience to set up a photo shoot that you might not have had in mind, but that you’ll love when the photos are done!
