Whoever told you that a charcuterie board had to be fancy was wrong—mainly because I’m considering this a charcuterie board and it is, in fact, not that fancy. But, it is a very filling and easy board to create this Christmas!
Now, I can’t say that this is the most affordable charcuterie but I can say that it doesn’t use too many ingredients. I buy them in bulk (like the crackers, it was a serving variety pack of four different types for a little under $10) which means I may pay more as a whole, but for the serving size on the board, it’s less than your usual expense.
This is my first DIY of the season and another for my personal party-hosting (it’s meant to go along with my Gingerbread party later in December), so I had to try it!
What I Used For My Christmas Charcuterie
I had this brilliant idea for a Christmas tree serving tray the other day, and I’m so grateful my husband could make it happen! Yes, I know there are alternatives on Amazon, but ya girl is not buying another bamboo tray to fall apart in 2.5 uses and stain like a white shirt being washed with a red sweater.
By the way, if you’re as obsessed with this Christmas tree tray as I am, you can grab one for yourself here.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t have a solid plan for the board, but I was attempting to do the 3-3-3 rule of charcuterie (essentially, three meats, three cheeses, three starches). It also didn’t help that my husband did the grocery shopping and didn’t actually know where the meat was—and when he did find it, he went wayyyy overboard.
I’m just saying, but this isn’t even a quarter of the meats he brought home. Thank goodness that as of writing this, Thanksgiving is two days away so we’ll have plenty of opportunity to share and get use of the extras.
Here are some of the things I used:
- Food Lion NY Extra Sharp White Cheddar & Medium Cheddar (I cubed it myself)
- A Member’s Mark Brand Cracker Variety (I can’t find it online)
- Dietz & Watson Italian Style Meat Charcuterie
- Taste of Inspirations Assorted Cheese Cracker Cuts Party Tray – 48 ct
It wasn’t much, which is why I’m convinced it’s not that fancy—but, I’ll let you be the judge of that.
The Cutest Charcuterie Tree for Christmas
Don’t judge me, but I loved how this turned out so of course I took plenty of pictures of my tree! I will be recreating this closer to Christmas, but I wanted to test it out first.
Here’s a final picture of how it looked in the outside lighting:

But, that’s not the only lighting I took pictures in. Here’s how it looked indoors:

I wasn’t sold on the blue background, but the more I see it, the more I love it against the African Mahogany wood of the Christmas Tree tray.
But, anyway, what do you think? It’s pretty simple, right?
Also, the key to a successful charcuterie tray is to not overthink it! Do it, then walk away. It will look 100% better after you come back to it and are no longer frustrated with your meats not doing the pretty twists of a restaurant charcuterie.
